The “Harlem Young Soul” singer legally born Tommy Gunn vocally can be compared to a musical blast of fresh air. The vocal presence of Tommy Gunn aka “Gunnz” has often been compared to that of the late legendary great Teddy Pendergrass. He inherited the gift of singing from his father who sang with the great Frankie Lymon. As a teen “Gunnz” always had dreams to sing professionally. One of his biggest dreams was to sing at the world’s famous Apollo Theater. His dream came true when he came out of the crowd on amature night.

Steve Harvey Heard “Gunnz” and took him back stage to meet the Late great Chuck Sutton. Chuck Sutton hired Gunnz for a year as the Apollo Theater’s warm-up artist. Gunnz went on to open for many platinum artists such as: Silk, LSG, Next, Kci & JoJo and Joe. Gunnz landed recording deals with record companies such as Heat Roc (a division of Rocafella) Jay Z and Tyrone “Tye Tye” Smith, and Murdah Inc. Gunnz acquired a platinum plaque for backgrounds and adlibs on Ashanti’s “Chapter 2” album. He hosted the EBC basketball tournament also known simply as “The Rucker”.

Whether singing in a Theatre or the on the stoop of his building, Gunnz takes pride in every note that he sounds out. Gunnz waited patiently for the wonderful world of music to appreciate the raw beautiful sound of soul again.
