JP

Artist Joselyn Parker, known in the music world as “JP” captivates audiences with her unique blend of soul, poetry, and hip-hop. Hailing from the inner city of Youngstown, Ohio she is one of NuVybe’s newly signed talents joining the family of Bridge artist. Her knack for music and writing started at the tender young age of 5. Soon she began performing in talents shows and school programs. Like many artist before her, JP groomed her musical abilities in church, singing in the choir and as apart of the praise and worship team.

It wasn’t until her junior year in high school that she developed a passion for “spoken word poetry.” After that she began performing at many open mic nights and also in contests where she was often came in first place. “JP”, often compared to Lauryn Hill is humbled by the comparison but is looking to build her career as a soul singer on her own individuality.

Joselyn, graced with musicianship plays guitar and the piano. and is also an incredible songwrtiter. “JP” teamed up with legendary producer Herb Middleton a year ago and has been developing Joselyn’s sound and  was inspired to create a new twist for “JP’s” style.

The combination of singing mixed with hip poetry has given her a new sound that producer Herb Middleton calls “spinging”.  Middleton is producing JP’s album, which is slated for release sometime next year. While maintaining her love affair with music and words, JP also earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations, and most recently a Masters degree in education. “I love making music and I love working with people. I hope that the message that I’m sending out in my music can help people young and old discover who they are.” “It’s important for this generation to be able to identify with something or someone positive, I pray that I can be that person and show that even in that you can still make music that “bangs”. That’s bridge music, that’s my music, that’s JP”.
